Description

The glabella of Calymene is convex, standing high above the genae and projecting well in front of them, with the anterior lobe sloping steeply forward, it has 3 pairs of lateral lobes, with the 1p and 2p lobes isolated by shallow longitudinal furrows, all independently convex, and the 2p lobes papillate, the eye lobes are opposite the 2p glabellar lobes, and the preglabellar furrow is narrow and deep, the anterior border is evenly convex, the hypostoma has a subrectangular raised area, highest anteriorly, in the center of the anterior lobe of the middle body, the thorax consists of 13 (rarely 12) segments, the pygidium has 6 complete axial rings and 6 deep pleural furrows, which extend to the margin of the borderless pleural regions, with interpleural grooves being shallow and best-marked distally
